MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to impede the spread of coronavirus through our affordable homemade masks.  Masks by Poppers started at the beginning of the corona outbreak in the U.S. by making masks for nurses at a nursing home and wound care facility.  We hope to do our small part in reducing the number of cases of this rapidly spreading pandemic.  We do not work for a profit, and we try our hardest to make our masks as affordable as possible in order to prevent economic health inequities.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHO IS MAKING MY MASKS?

It is just the two of us, Lisa and McKenzi, and we hand cut and sew everything individually.

WHAT IS THE TURNAROUND TIME FOR THE MAKING OF MASKS I ORDER?

Our turnaround time in making the masks is 24 hrs and I will update if anything changes. We are currently able to complete 30 masks a day.

HOW DO YOU DESIGN THE MASKS?

We are using the CDC’s, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, design which is a rectangle with two folds and attaching elastic to go around the ears. We use a cotton exterior (or cotton/poly blend) and cotton flannel interior with 1/4in grade A braided elastic or cut 6mm or less elastic headbands for color. We adapted the original design to include a pocket for an aluminum nose strip which we included for a snugger safer fit.

WHAT IS THE QUALITY OF YOUR MASKS BY POPPERS MASKS?

Remember these are a hand made product and with that in mind understand we are NOT professional seamstress The sales of these masks provides us the ability to make more for those out there that have kept our lives safe. We put a lot of heart into making these masks for you and hope they provide a little color and fun since this is our new requirement in all our lives.

WHAT FABRIC DESIGNS DO YOU USE?

Our fabric stock changes daily with customer sales and new fabric purchases/deliveries. If you let us know what you are looking for we can send you photos of samples we have on hand. It would consume too much time, with the ever changing stock, to list what we have and keep it current.

CAN I SEND YOU MY OWN FABRIC?

We will gladly make masks out of any fabric you may want to provide.
We need at least a fat quarter or 1/4 regular yard depending on the design for placement of print. We do this for half the price. Please feel free to email me and we can discuss arrangements.

HOW CAN I CARE FOR AND WASH MY MASK?

Please wash the masks before using. All masks are cotton or cotton poly blend and therefore are washable. We do recommend machine washing and hang drying to save  on fabric shrinkage. Ironing on medium heat may be required after washing to retain shape.

HOW CAN I RECEIVE MY MASKS IF I DON’T LIVE IN AUSTIN?

Your mask(s) can be picked up or shipped. You can pick up your masks 8am-5pm at our office located at 1205 San Antonio Street, Austin, TX, 78701. Shipping cost varies but is around $3.50.

HOW MUCH DO MASKS COST?

Our masks cost $10.00 each. We accept credit cards, debit cards and PayPal. However, if you are in health care, are a first responder, or in the military, with your first mask order, we select and make a mask for free as a thank you for the service you are providing to the public as long as proof of employment is provided. There is a limit of one free mask per person. We want to thank all of you for the service you are providing. Without all of you, our lives would be at a stand still. There is only one free mask per person.

CAN I GET A REFUND OR EXCHANGE MY MASK(S)?

Due to the nature of the product and COVID-19 we can not offer any refunds or exchanges. Please do not ask for an exception, we must destroy the product once you have handled the mask. We inspect the masks before we deliver or ship them but if there is a problem that we missed,  we will repair the mask and return it to you (in most cases by the next day). Repairs will be a priority.

HOW ARE THE MASKS SIZED?

Child: 5 x 8 with 5 inch elastic
Male: 10  x 7 inches with 6 inch elastic
Female: 9 x 6 inches with 6 to 7 inch elastic
We make masks at 6.5 inches unless a different size is requested.
